Friends of Warwick Bushland

The Friends of Warwick Bushland is a community group that cares for the bushland within Warwick Conservation Reserve. The reserve is located in the suburb of Warwick in the City of Joondalup, Perth, Western Australia. The Group was established in 1999 by Karen Clarke and Robyn McElroy and built on Robyn’s group formed two years earlier to care for the Warwick Senior High School bushland.

The Friends of Warwick Bushland undertake activities such as biological surveys, collecting seeds, planting in degraded areas, weed control, removal of rubbish, guided walks, displays and talks, and facilitate educational activities with schools. The group has accumulated a large amount of historical and scientific knowledge about the site’s past use and its vegetation, flora, fauna and fungi.

Membership is free and open to all ages.

Meeting Place

All Friends events start at the carpark in front of the Warwick Bowling Club on Lloyd Drive, Warwick, unless otherwise specified.

What To Bring

Bring drinking water, a hat, gloves, wear closed-in footwear and weather appropriate clothes. Trousers are recommended if walking through the bushland.

Events

From 4^th May 2024 – Bushcare Saturdays (fortnightly) 9am to 10.30am. Tools and information provided. Please join us for a session in the bushland to help the native plants flourish. All welcome.

19 – 26^th May 2024 – National Volunteer Week Celebrate the work of our volunteers.

9^th June 2024 – Planting Day with the Warwick Scouts and Cubs Sunday 1pm to 3pm. Over 400 plants to go in. Refreshments provided afterwards. All are welcome to join us, having fun putting new seedlings into the bushland.

14^th July 2024 – Planting Community Day Sunday 1pm to 3pm. Second planting day, we’ll put in the remaining plants. Do your bit for our beautiful bushland. Refreshments provided afterwards. Please join us. All are welcome and we encourage newcomers to have a go.
